Christmas party invites for kids
Let’s be honest, most Christmas party invites are actually for the parents…It’s a card that’s telling them the when, what, where and how of your holiday do. In fact, we’ve got a simple and festive version here that you can download and edit on your home computer right here:
But it’s a great idea to do Christmas party invites for kids too! For the little ones, it’s more about building excitement about the kids party, and less about the practicalities. So, here’s a few ideas if you’re willing to take the extra time to do a kids invite too:
Guided by your theme
Your party theme will shape the invitation design and content. We love kids party themes like Santa’s Workshop, Gingerbread Wonderland, Elf Costume Party, Christmas Pyjama Party and Snowflake Ball because they perfectly encapsulate that seasonal wonderment. (And they’re also really easy to plan around…) If you choose to do a crafty design, you might even be able to reuse some of the craft supplies from the invites for your decor too! Need some help? Put out a request for a supplier to team up with you!
Formats for Christmas party invites for kids
With kids’ invites, you need less detail (leave that for the parents). Just think about making it fun and letting them know they’ve been invited to something special. You can do this with:
- Traditional paper invites - Use glitter, stickers or pop-up designs to customise each one and make it unique.
- DIY craft invites - Have your kids help decorate with handprints, stamps or snowflake cutouts to hand out invites in person.
- Digital invites - We like using tools like Canva to create teaser invites like this one from Santa to send via WhatsApp.
- Video invites - You could even dress up and record you and your child inviting their friends for an extra cute touch for social media announcements!
- Gamified invites - You could even make your invites a mini activity with scratch-off surprises revealing the theme, or mini puzzles or mazes that reveal the date & time.
- Poem invite - For those who like a cheeky bit of rhyme, what about a customisable poem:
Hey [Friend’s Name], it’s [Child’s Name] here,
Christmas time is drawing near!
We’ll laugh and play, have treats so sweet,
With games and fun that can’t be beat!
Join the joy, don’t miss the cheer,
At [Venue Name], we’ll gather near.
On [Date] at [Time], come say hooray -
Let’s make it a merry Christmas day!

Why two invites?
Well, the simple fact is that the little ones won’t understand or care about dress code, RSVPs and allergies - they want to look forward to the magic and the excitement of the event, not the fine details. So, when you make two invites - one for parents and one for the kids - you’re getting everyone hyped, answering all their questions and saving yourself some hassle down the road.
