Kids party ideas for primary school children

As your kids age and become more like little adults, it’s often easier to plan events for them. You just plan something you wouldn’t mind doing too, and they usually have a great time, like the cinema, theme park or shopping excursion. But kids party ideas for primary school children can be a little more challenging. What will very young children enjoy doing, and how can you make each birthday a milestone, year after year? Here are our suggestions. Feel free to bookmark this page and refer to it again and again.

Kids party for 4 year old

At this age, we recommend active and sensory play. Bubble machines, bubble wands, soft play equipment or an indoor playground are all safe and fun options for little ones. You can even get suppliers to come to your house in London and other cities with all the kit you need for an active, sensory party.

Kids party for 5 year old

At 5, we like the idea of introducing easy party games. Simple ones like ring toss, bean bag throw, or fishing games with small prizes can work their minds and their bodies. Pair this with an imagination station with princess, superhero or animal costumes to keep them busy.

Kids party for 6 year old

At 6, their fine motor skills are getting better and creativity is starting to blossom. Small group building challenges or free play tables with Lego blocks are a great way to use both. Adding in some learning with volcanoes, slime making, or a colour party are exciting and educational too.

Kids party for 7 year old

At 7, you can introduce problem-solving and teamwork. Try a treasure or scavenger hunt where they go around a venue or park, looking for clues and trying to win a prize. You can even tailor it further to their interests with a pirate, jungle or spy theme.

Kids party for 8 year old

At 8 years old, your little one now has the focus to do more complex crafts. You could hire a supplier to help you throw a t-shirt making party, cupcake decorating, backpack styling or other kinds of arty party.

Kids party for 9 year old

For 9-year-olds, we love providing a more physical challenge. Supervised climbing, zip lines or rope courses are thrilling and memorable, and this might be the first time that they are tall enough and old enough to do these things.

Kids party for 10 year old

At 10 years old, this is the first time we’d suggest a sleepover. Stronger friendships make sleepovers fun at this age, and they’re old enough now to survive an evening without their parents. You could add a theme like "glow-in-the-dark" crafts, a gaming night or a spa experience to make it extra memorable.
