Where to host kids party activities is usually one of the first few things you think of…right after what activities you’ll have at the event overall. (And if you’ve not decided that, why not put a request out to all our suppliers?) Today, we’ll break down a few options to help you weigh the pros and cons of each location.

Hosting at home

The most obvious answer to where to host kids party activities is at home. Holding your kids party at home is a cost-effective way to ensure you’ve got complete control over the setup and event schedule. However, if you’re pressed for time, it’s one of the worst options for busy parents with tonnes of cleanup required and a fair amount of space limitations. If you’ve got a decent-sized garden or front room, it could still work for smaller groups, DIY parties or events for small children. To jazz it up, you could rent a bouncy castle or set up stations for crafts like slime.

Local park party

If you’re lucky enough to be planning a party in some of the better months for the British weather, then where to host kids party activities is a no-brainer. A park is just great with lots of space for running and outdoor games. It’s often free or very low cost to get a dedicated area with picnic tables or something similar. But, as we said, it is weather-dependent, and you may need a permit, so just something to think about. If you’ve got active kids or older kids, picnic-style parties are a great way to tire them out for a quiet evening after. Just remember to bring your own decor or hire someone to sort that for you.

Indoor play centres

With built-in activities and equipment, staff to help supervise and often food and drink options, indoor play centres are a great option. Sure, you’ll have less control over the schedule, and they can be pricey at times, but many are very good value for money. This option is ideal for younger kids and winter birthdays, where it’s just too cold to be in the garden or at the park. Look for trampoline parks, soft play centres and kids gyms. They’re amazing locations to host a party, and no matter where you are in the UK, there’s usually an option nearby.

Entertainment venues

Much like the above, if you have even older children, bowling alleys, arcades, mini golf and cinemas are a great option. They take the guesswork out of where to host kids party activities and benefit from built-in fun and usually easy packages with a clear cost per head. The downside, naturally, is that they may not allow much customisation, so we recommend that you book early and ask about what you’re allowed to bring in terms of decorations or food to avoid disappointment.

Educational venues

Where to host kids party activities can sometimes come down to what you think they’d like to do. If you have teenagers, then art collectives, zoos, farms, cooking classes or dance studios could be a fantastic space for their party. They’re less ‘cheesy’ for your budding Instagram stars and offer a memorable experience that's more skill-based. Just check that they don’t have limited capacity or need extremely advanced booking to secure your spot. If everything in your area is booked up, have a look at these craft suppliers who might be able to support you at home with something more arty or gaming vans that can come right to your door.
